If you're thinking of visiting us for one of our Sunday Services, we have put together the following questions and answers so you know what to expect. If you have any questions that are not covered on this page, do feel free to get in touch and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Where can I park?
Visitors to the Parish Church will find free car parking throughout Newport Pagnell. You usually find space in the small car park by the library, or in the larger car park in Silver Street. There is ample parking on the roadside by St Luke's. There is a car park at Lathbury Church and some off-road parking at Moulsoe Church.
What happens when I arrive?
The welcomers will answer any questions you might have. If you are new to the Parish then please ask for a Welcome Pack which contains information about all that goes on.
Do you have Bibles available?
There are bibles at the end of each pew in the Parish church. In the other churches please ask a steward on your arrival if you would like to borrow one during the service.
Do you have baby-changing facilities?
In the Parish Church this is situated in our disabled toilet.
Do you have disabled facilities?
At the Parish Church there is a disabled space in our car park and a disabled toilet. There is wheelchair access through the front entrance of all the churches. For the hard of hearing there is a 'loop' system in operation in the Parish Church.
Where do I sit?
There are no set seating plans you can sit wherever you feel most comfortable.
Is there a dress-code?
No. Come as you wish!
What if I have young children with me?
Children are welcome at all of the services. If they are getting fidgety then there is a children’s area in the Parish church with toys for them to play in and this normally keeps them occupied during the services!
What happens during the service?
It depends on the type of service. We follow the order of service from Common Worship for the morning Communion, and the more formal Book of Common Prayer for Choral Evensong. We often have services specially designed for all-ages that are particularly aimed at children, such as Mothering Sunday, Harvest Festival, Christingle etc and these are more informal with no Communion.
What happens after the service?
At St Peter & St Paul's, Lathbury and Moulsoe, coffee and biscuits are served after the morning service. At St Luke's. coffee is served from 10.30am before the 11am service. It is a good time to meet and chat to people, some of whom you may find you already know.
Can I arrange a meeting with the Vicar or one of the main leaders?
Yes, either contact the Revd Nick Evans or one of the ministry team directly or a meeting can be arranged for you.Contact details are here.
Who can take the bread and wine at a communion service?
If you have been baptised as a baby or confirmed as an adult then you can take Holy Communion. Also, if you are a member of another mainstream Christian denomination (i.e. Methodist, Baptist, United Reformed Church, Lutheran etc) then you are free to receive Communion at the services in Newport Pagnell.
If you are not sure what you believe then come up to the altar rail for a blessing during Communion. If you have children with you then bring them up too where they receive a jelly baby as a sign that God loves them and wants to gives us all so much.
Exploring Christianity
If you are interested in finding out more about the Christian faith, then contact the Rector. We hold study courses during Lent and Advent and a number of house groups which meet most days of the week to explore the bible and the Christian faith.
